Ein bisschen Eierlikoer....

Oma Frieda’s Eggnog

Since this is a German recipe and the Germans stick to the rules and order under any circumstances, you the cook, are required to do the same. Otherwise the recipe won’t work. :-)

Ingredients:

5 egg yolks (if very small use 2 more)
125g powdered sugar (make it yourself in a blender; don’t use icing sugar!)
2-3 teaspoons Vanilla sugar
200 ml (liquid) double cream (don’t use any substitutes, use the real thing, needs to be 100%)
200 ml Vodka (38%)

Preparation:

Achtung: The timing of the individual steps is very important for the consistency of the mixture. So stick to it! :-)

Blend the egg yolks using a hand-blender or free-standing blender (if you’re using this one, you should blend the mixture on a low level) and slowly but surely add the powdered sugar and blend for about 10 min. Whilst keeping the blender running (don’t ever turn off the blender!), slowly add the cream  and blend for another 10 min. Then, still not turning off the blender, add the vodka to the mixture and blend for another 5 min to make sure that the liquid doesn’t separate but rather smoothes into the most lovely Eierlikoer ever.
When finished, it is advisable to pour the liquid into a suitable glass bottle and store it in a cool and dark place. To serve, use cooled Schokobecher. Prost!!
